Confirmed from Camp Salmen Nature Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Wooded park with a playground & walking trails, plus 3 pavilions & an amphitheater for events.
What runners say about Camp Salmen Nature Park
“We've spent a few days exploring and the facilities are always well kept and the bathrooms are clean and have possibly the best air freshener of any public facility.”
“The history has fallen to the wayside we need to do everything we can to keep it and it is very beautiful even in the winter.”
I love this gem of a park. There are so many elements of Slidell History. The swamp trails are so peaceful and my go-to for my down time. We went for family pictures today. The biggest thing for me is the cleanliness. The wooden trail system is well maintained. The other trails are kept clean.
This place has great cleared trails. Well maintained, staff was friendly, the bike trails looked amazing. We walked a few of the trails. Nothing blooming in May. Put on bug spray. The entrance is a little tricky. Google wanted to take us kind of back entrance. I plan to update the entrance.
A great escape, even on a hot day, with lots of shady trails to explore. The terrain is pretty flat and not too difficult. Great play area for kids and plenty of space to have a gathering, especially in the big pavilion. Even the restroom was clean and functional.
The trails are well marked, albeit somewhat short. There is ample opportunity to see Louisiana wildlife, as the trails wind along Bayou Liberty and also contain some smaller swamp areas almost akin to the swamp exhibit at the zoo. The main pavilion had bathrooms and a water fountain.
