Confirmed from John Slidell Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Wooded site with a 1.5-mi. trail & ball fields, plus a playground, an indoor gym & picnic pavilion.
What runners say about John Slidell Park
“they have 2 play areas, one is in the shade and it's mostly slides and the other is on a big pad and it has lots of different activities including slides.”
I would give five stars but the running trail at the back has a low spot that has been a flooding and mud issue for the ten years I have lived here. I get that it costs money to fix but with the number of support staff it seems this should not be such a difficult thing to fix.
A nice but very well used park with playground. Has nice shade and play equipment for younger ages. No swings for school age kids. 6 baby swings. Monkey bars. Lots of places to play chase or hide and seek. The walking and bike trails start at the play ground and go to the back of the park.
There is great playground equipment, baseball fields, walking trails, bathrooms and plenty of parking. There are also picnic benches and places to have birthday parties. There is a lot of shade at this Park which great for the summer.
JSP is a great community park with a playground, ball fields, basketball gym, hiking trails, and picnic tables. There are two large and several small pavilions that you can rent if you like. Fun for the whole family...

“This Park does have a lot of nature so look for ant hills and watch for ground wasps (these are usually at the edge of the Park towards the very back where not too many go.”
“The bathrooms are clean, and the play area has infants to adults which are appropriately separated by age.”
