Confirmed from Olde Izaak Walton Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
21-acre public park featuring a pond with a fishing pier, plus trails & an off-leash dog park.
What runners say about Olde Izaak Walton Park
“However, the picnic tables are not that clean I typically bring something to sit on or I wipe it off with Clorox.”
“The pond is beautiful in the spring before the algae goes crazy and covers the entire surface.”
“The area is generally shaded, which is great for hot summer days.”
I used to walk this ground a long time ago and it is still a quiet interlude in the midst of the sprawling mess that is Leesburg. The pond is beautiful in the spring before the algae goes crazy and covers the entire surface.
It’s a pretty non-descript dog park. There are two areas, one for big dogs and one for smaller. If you are coming for the first time, it is tucked down a side road that says “no outlet.” I nearly turned around but followed the road on the off chance it would get to a dog park.
It is a great dog park better than the one located next to One Loudoun. They have doggy bags and water for your furbabies. There is plenty of room for the dogs to run as it is one big open field and few picnic tables for people to sit on.
They need to put new fill down in the dog park. They brought a truck last year and just dumped it in one spot. They need to actually put it all over the entire dog park. If it had been raining and it had been filled properly, then the dogs wouldn't leave the dog park totally covered in mud.
Trail conditions & character
“Nice spacious dog park with the usual amenities like separate big and small dog areas, water and benches.”
“The area is generally shaded, which is great for hot summer days.”
“One warning is be prepared to have a muddy dog, especially after a rain.”
“The pond is beautiful in the spring before the algae goes crazy and covers the entire surface.”
“Sure enough, down a one lane road and at the top of a hill, tucked in a corner of the parking lot is the dog park.”
