Confirmed from Outdoor Discovery Center's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Educational facility at a nature preserve with exhibits on native animals & play areas for kids.
What runners say about Outdoor Discovery Center
“I was blown away by how much there is to see: live animals like owls, hawks, and reptiles in well-kept habitats, plus multiple public fishing ponds.”
“Beautiful trails, cool outdoor nature playscape, and you’re able to see some birds of prey and other wildlife throughout the reserve.”
“The Outdoor Discovery Center is a hidden gem and hands-down one of the best spots around for nature lovers of all ages.”
This place was fantastic! A hidden gem for sure! We were blown away that it is completely free to visit. The Visitor's Center is so cool with lots of taxidermy as well as live animals. While you can't touch a lot of the things on exhibit, there are plenty of opportunities for hands-on learning!
This nature center is located in the southern suburbs of Holland. The facility appears fairly new and is well maintained. The staff at the visitor center are very welcoming and pleasant. The entire area is filled with nature trails, wildflowers, and wildlife.
The Outdoor Discovery Center is a hidden gem and hands-down one of the best spots around for nature lovers of all ages. The trails are beautiful and super accessible gravel paths, and boardwalks make it easy to explore without getting lost or muddy.
An absolute must visit nature park for anyone with kids. There is a nature center, some animals and a birds of prey rehabilitation center, lots of nature trails and even a play area with unique play structures. We spent a few hours here and still only saw a fraction of the property.
Trail conditions & character

“Throughout the park, you’ll find modern restrooms and drinking fountains, allowing you to enjoy nature without sacrificing modern conveniences.”
“Picnic area so you can and should bring your own snacks and drinks as they do not sell any food or drinks and only have a few water fountains around the park.”
