Confirmed from Palo Alto Battlefield National Historical Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Notable 1846 battlefield features a visitor center with interactive exhibits, trails & guided tours.
What runners say about Palo Alto Battlefield National Historical Park
Great historical park that's sadly not very visited. The park is important as the site of the first official battle during the Mexican-American War. There is a paved interpretative trail that takes you through the history and explains the local flora and fauna.
Had the opportunity to visit here today and really liked it. From the moment we checked in, we were helped and greeted professionally by staff. After watching a quick movie about the history, we made the walk out and back. It’s roughly a mile and very well paved.
Amazing. Good for a short trip. Good historical background info on signage along trail. Visitor center has BARK Ranger tags for dogs The park ranger is very friendly! Park is very dog friendly.
It’s a really important site to check out the different views on the history are important to understand to move forward. Great history great movie. Great trails. Look for the horned lizards.
