Confirmed from Palo Verde Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Palo Verde Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (169 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 4 mentions

“Simple, clean neighborhood park.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 3 mentions

“Beautiful mountain and desert views, bathrooms, basketball courts, ramadas with tsbles & bbqs, large grass areas, and 2 different playgrounds.”

Nice little park....looks like fun for the kiddos. Nice little historic marker and trail at the back of the park. The pergola had what appeared to be vines to perhaps grow over it....the water didn't appear to be working as the vines were dead. That would be a really neat site if the vines were alive.

Tucked away in the Terramar neighborhood of North Peoria, this park has a lot going for it. A basketball court, playground for the kids and a nearly half mile hiking trail offer families a broad range of activities. The hiking trail is flat and is easily traversed for biking or hiking.

This is such a unique place. The ruins and historical info are excellent reminders of what life must of been like before AZ was a state. Highly recommended for those that still hike and can’t do stairs.

Its a great little walk! Saw a bunch of rabbits, cool birds (including a roadrunner!) And these little squirrels hiding in burrows. There are a few signs explaining the history of the site.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
  • At the trailheadrestrooms, water — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
