Confirmed from Peoria Sunrise Mountain Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Park & hiking spot featuring picturesque desert scenery & views of the surrounding valley.
What runners say about Peoria Sunrise Mountain Preserve
“Nice hike with trails for different skill levels and great views of the valley.”
“Really quick & relatively easy hike .”
This is one of my favorite little areas to hike although it is getting notably more crowded lately. It is free and you can park by the park or school or even in the adjacent neighborhood to access the trail. You can take several routes once on it to get an easier or more rigorous workout.
I would have given 5 stars. Part of the hike was a little too challenging. I had no traction on so parts and was sliding down places. Beautiful views. Would have liked a little more signage like distance on trail and distance on various loops. Warnings about steepness could work too.
Nice hike with trails for different skill levels and great views of the valley. I took the intermediate trail strait to the top, it was challenging and fun. I look forward to trying the other trails.
Nice easy hike for families. One mile round trip gets you great views. Total trail 4 miles but ready to shorten it down to anything length depending on your kids and exercise tolerance.
