We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Sunrise Mountain Trailhead yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Hiking area featuring several trails, including loops, plus a playground.
What runners say about Sunrise Mountain Trailhead
“Great trails; clearly marked, nice elevation mix, beautiful views.”
This was a great trail! As inexperienced hikers we found all the trails to be pretty moderate. There are several peaks and look outs for one to stop and take a break or enjoy the view! Everyone we crossed paths with was friendly. We enjoyed our time here and would definitely recommend it!
One of the best trails to hike north of Phoenix. Be sure to bring water or drink a lot before you go. Even if you think you’re hydrated. Be safe and smart. This is an easy/moderate hike. Kid friendly. I’ve taken big groups on these trails at sunset and we have never had a bad time. Haven’t seen any snakes... yet.
It was a moderate trail. There are many trails available to choose from, some are loops and some go up and are steep. We saw many bikers on the trails as well, and a couple of dogs and children as well.
Great trail to hike or take a mountain bike on. Also good for the family, although if you are walking with a wagon or stroller, you may want to stick to the sidewalks in the town.
