Confirmed from Patuxent Branch Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Area featuring hiking and jogging paths, including some that are paved and kid-friendly.

“Easy walking with rolling hills making for an interesting walk.”
Great walk. Paved pathway. Nice for a stroller!!! Some tiny hills throw in an extra workout. : ) Note: I picked up the trail in Savage Park. The trail turns to gravel after you cross Vollmerhausen. Still can get a good 1 mile+.
Beautiful trail. Quite but I'll recommend this to anyone interested in just being away from the noise .
Great, mostly flat, paved trail, about 4.5mi from the Savage Mill Trail head to the start of the Lake Elkhorn Trail loop.
Great place to ride if you're looking for a paved trail- very clean, well maintained, and easy to navigate.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
