This trail is super, super easy. It has gotten more accessible over the years, so expect lots of people. But it's still gorgeous
I use to bring my daughter and her 2 cousins to the river to walk and watch for birds. The trail has a port-a-potty at the beginning. The trail itself is clean and level. There are also entrances to the river. You just have to walk down a path. There is one path that is easier to walk down.
I love hiking the Savage Mill Trail. There are places you can get down near the river and toss rocks. Sometimes I see people fishing or wading. Otherwise, the trail up top is gravel and great for an in and out hike or jog. It's wide enough that groups of people can walk along chatting.
This is one of my favorite trails in that part of Maryland. The kiddos enjoy getting in the water! The only downside is the parking situation. The road alongside the entrance doesn’t allow parking from 8pm to 6pm, so in the longer days of summer, you have to leave the area before it gets dark (or find another place to…
