Confirmed from Savage Mill Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

This trail is super, super easy. It has gotten more accessible over the years, so expect lots of people. But it's still gorgeous

I use to bring my daughter and her 2 cousins to the river to walk and watch for birds. The trail has a port-a-potty at the beginning. The trail itself is clean and level. There are also entrances to the river. You just have to walk down a path. There is one path that is easier to walk down.

I love hiking the Savage Mill Trail. There are places you can get down near the river and toss rocks. Sometimes I see people fishing or wading. Otherwise, the trail up top is gravel and great for an in and out hike or jog. It's wide enough that groups of people can walk along chatting.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
