Confirmed from Pine Mountain Overlook's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Scenic views are the reward for hiking 1.2 mi. up Pine Mountain's west or east trails.
What runners say about Pine Mountain Overlook
“Trail is not quite as challenging as the Pigeon Hill side of Kennesaw Mountain, but much longer and has a beautiful view from the top!”
Beautiful site, hike is pretty challenging though and not recommended for young kids! 😅
A rocky trail! Not too steep like Stone Mountain, enveloped in the serenity of nature 💚
Great walking trails over 4 miles to do east and west together. Large free parking on the west side off Highway 113. Keep walking sticks handy for the steepness.
The hike is quite tiring. Maybe I'm just out of shape, but it didn't seem moderate (I go to the gym multiple times a week). It was definitely not easy, I'd say it's somewhat on the harder side. The view from the top is beautiful and well worth climbing up.
Trail conditions & character
“I personally wouldn't say the view at the top was worth it only because the view is obscured by the treeline so there's really not much to see.”
“The trailhead is close to the interstate, so this is an excellent place to stretch the legs!”
“Trail is not quite as challenging as the Pigeon Hill side of Kennesaw Mountain, but much longer and has a beautiful view from the top!”
“Steep with some technical spots especially if you take the Poles trail.”
