Confirmed from Ponemah Bog's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Lush bog area offering a short trail on wooden boards & a variety of birds, wildflowers & plants.
What runners say about Ponemah Bog
“There are trail boards that have been built and pretty well maintained to allow single file walking around most of the bog.”
“Beautiful plants that you can’t see really anywhere else and it was wonderful to see how the bog works and acts!”
“What a peaceful place tucked into the backside of a neighborhood but filled with so much nature!”
“Easy walk, gorgeous views, lots of quietness for bird watching and many other animals.”
Great little bog to check out and walk around. The wooden plank walkway is short and narrow which makes it tough to walk past other people when checking out the different wooden platforms that overlook the water. Also in some sections some of the planks are starting to rot away.
Beautiful place! I went in mid-May hoping to see the carnivorous plants. The pitcher plants were out in full, but sundew don't arrive til July. The boardwalk is a little precarious in places and very narrow throughout, so if you have a poor sense of balance, this may be a bit more difficult.
Really great, peaceful place. The boardwalk through the woods is narrow and not completely level, so balance is important. The lookoffs and seating areas are great for bird watching and just reveling in peaceful nature.
