Confirmed from Potato Hill Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Hilly destination for mountain biking and hiking, as well as an outpost for fireworks viewing.

What runners say about Potato Hill Trailhead

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (333 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 10 mentions

“If you don’t want, you would still get a great view in 25 steps(attached pic)!”

Best place to watch sunset in the entire Utah! It never disappoints! You can choose to walk 5mins to one point, or 10mins to the top, both allow you to see the entire valley! Strongly recommend you bring a picnic chair or a picnic mat to just chill and see the entire sun set till dusk!

I've biked most every trail in Utah Valley and corner canyon has by far been my best experience. The trails are clean and often nestled in the trees which makes even climbing the mountain a pleasant experience.

Perfect spot to watch sunset. For someone who wants to hike, you can have a decent one. If you don’t want, you would still get a great view in 25 steps(attached pic)! It was a very windy day but the view was too good! Did not stay longer as we had a lil one with us.

This is a great spot that leads to many different trials. Amazing place to watch the sunset at the top of the hill that just takes a couple minutes to climb up. Fantastic views of the valley!!!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 21 mentions

“This spot is a real treat and a fun little hike that overlooks the Draper Temple and the valley.”

“And Rush, the main down hill trail, is exquisite with a bunny hop like every 30' and a few larger jumps as well.”

The practical stuff

  • AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
