Such a gorgeous walk. It looks like the Santa Fe landscape paintings I see in the museums. I know it should technically look like that, but I really didn't think it would be as breathtaking on a side trail in an everyday place here. I was just looking for a place to run on my break.
This is great trail, that so many of us, locals, use. Very well maintained, it offers the opportunity for walking, hiking, riding your bike. The parking lot is at around the milepost 13 so, as you can see, there is a lot of distance available to cover, according to how much you want to.
I wanted a different trail other than the ski area trails so I read some reviews and came across this one. It's really nice, quiet and there are people on it with bikes and walking their dogs. I know this will be a favorite of mine. It was challenging without being overwhelming and the views were pretty!
The trailhead is attached to the parking lot (on the end closer to the port a potty and the little library). The first two miles out are pretty tricky for a beginner like myself, but another cyclist warned me that was the case and it would get "easier." I loved it.
