What runners say about Ravinia State Forest
Excellent hiking. Beautiful forest. They also have a lookout tower that you can climb (we didn't go up due to a big hornets' nest in it.) The clerk at the information building was very helpful and also provided us with maps. Make sure you stop to get them as cell service is spotty.
It's an off the beaten path type of place. It's not a state park so there aren't the amenities or traffic of your typical state properties. If you want a quiet walk through the woods this is the place.
