Confirmed from Redwood Glen Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Loop-hike-friendly preserve of big trees, plus hiking and bike trails, and picnic areas.
What runners say about Redwood Glen Trailhead
“5 miles as a loop with only about 400 feet or so of elevation gain making it great for hiking or mountain biking, while offering some great views and scenery.”
The Redwood Glen Trail is a great loop trail within Joaquin Miller Park. The trail is about 3.5 miles as a loop with only about 400 feet or so of elevation gain making it great for hiking or mountain biking, while offering some great views and scenery.
Not a parking lot but plenty of roadside spots. No restroom. Easy loop along big trees and Bay View trail. Good for kids. Wide trail, well marked (for the most part) . Some little side trails. Lots of people for Friday. Lots of dogs. Lots of bikes. Not a ton of isolation. Can hear the city and the roads .
Had a fantastic time walking the Big Trees trail loop starting from this trailhead! There are only a couple of steep down or uphill points, and otherwise it’s a very mellow hike through the redwoods, oaks, and laurel trees. Parking on the road was easy.
What a wonderful redwood forest! So peaceful to walk around. There are a bunch of picnic areas throughout the trails. Some trails are marked for bikes, and some are not. Beware that google maps doesn't accurately show the web of trails here.
