We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Ritchie Hollow Trail yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Ritchie Hollow Trail

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (104 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 7 mentions

“The waterfall is gorgeous and if you still have the stones to continue hiking beyond that point the overlook of the Tennessee River is breathtaking.”

🪧 well-marked 2 mentions

“The hiking path is clearly marked and there is some fun rock formations and fallen tree logs to climb over at certain points.”

Awesome trail for the moderate hiker. Lots of fairly steep uphill terrain. The waterfall is gorgeous and if you still have the stones to continue hiking beyond that point the overlook of the Tennessee River is breathtaking.

★★★★★ — The , Feb 2022

Fun trail with plenty of climb, and stone steps. A bit technical, but mostly runnable. Around 1600ft elevation gain. Links up with Snoopers trail.

Went on this trail today. I really was trying to make it to the big waterfall but didn’t make it there as I didn’t know how far it was. Other reviews said it would take 30 mins but it was past that and only saw small baby falls. I did like the views of the lake approaching the trail. The trail itself is very shady.

★★★★☆ — Sandi , Jul 2023

This is a moderate hike. I am a big girl and I struggled a good bit. But I did it. The hike is up the side of a MTN. But the waterfall at the top is absolutely incredible. Definitely worth the hike.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
