Confirmed from Rocky Woods' own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Known for its 6+ miles of hiking trails, this natural area features woods, wetlands & ponds.

“A peaceful winter walk along the snowy trails of Rocky Woods Reservation in Medfield, Massachusetts You can play a game – try to find the 9 reindeers on the trails.”
“Dogs are welcome when leashed, though you will pass the occasional entitled owner with one off-leash.”
Part of the Trustees of Reservation parks network, so if you are a member, parking is free at the kiosk, $6 otherwise and well worth it! Great area for kids, trails for different levels and dogs are allowed. Campground is open during season, place is clean and well kept, I come here often!
Absolutely beautiful place with easy to moderate hiking trails that are really well-maintained. My husband and I went for a run here and the majority of the trail was nice and flat and soft. The multiple lakes/ponds scattered throughout made it extra lovely!
Beautiful campground, spacious parking, short walking distance between the main grounds and the check in, a great little lake and tons of scenic views. Thank you to the Coolidge and Rocky Woods Trustees for hosting a great movie night.
A very beautiful Trustees property, very well marked trail options. Pay to park if not a member. Dogs in leash welcome, nice camping area as well. Echo Pond is currently washed out, but easy to go the opposite direction.

Plan your run at Rocky Woods
The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
