Confirmed from Rolling Hill Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Rolling Hill Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (512 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 6 mentions

“Make sure to bring a towel to clean your buddy if they like taking a dunk in the streams.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 6 mentions

“Beautiful trees and open spaces and paths with some cool ruins to explore.”

🐕 dog-walking favorite 5 mentions

“Mostly come to this park to bring my dog to the fenced dog park or walk on the trails.”

Best Dog Park in Lower Merion! Dogs are off leash all the time, and it is wonderful. There is no better place for a real hike with your pup: many trails with options to climb and descend several times without backtracking. In memory of Cody who got me out hiking every week from 2016 to 2025. Miss you so much...

A beautiful park for sure! The trail was a little confusing to follow, but we had signal the whole time to use Google maps. The ruins are absolutely gorgeous, as is the creek! It's a bit of a hill going down to them, but wasn't as bad going back up as expected! Lots of dogs running around too!

What an amazing park! I’ve seen creeks where your dog can play but never hiking as well! We are addicted to this place. Lots of room. Dogs and people are nice. Takes about 15 minutes to hike down to the creek. There is an annoying limit of 9:30 for off leash (that nobody abides by). Feel like it should be 10:30.

★★★★★ — Dustin , Jul 2023

The area is beautiful and well maintained! The trails are a excellent workout! Just be careful because some areas can be a bit steep. In some spots you will find alternative paths that are easier to traverse than the main path. And you'll always find a friendly dog walking down the path.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🐕 Dog-friendly 52 mentions

“This is the best park in LMT if you consent to off-leash dogs (more or less all the time) although it is technically limited from sunrise-0930 and 330-630pm.”

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
