Confirmed from Ron Coleman Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Park featuring hiking trails with caves, scenic views and mountain backdrops.
What runners say about Ron Coleman Trailhead
“There are great views of both sides of the mountains when you reach the top, and it was pretty windy up there, so hold on to your hats.”
Did not mentally prepare when I read this was a trail for experienced hikers. This trail will definitely test you if you are not an experienced hiker, as I found out. Its late October and the weather was perfect, but the climb to the top is no joke.
Hiked 3.7 miles and 2400 ft elevation going from the McKelligon trailhead to the trans mountain highway in 2:30 minutes. Not an easy hike. Very rocky and lots of cacti. You have to do some rock climbing/scrambling at points and climb up chains.
Go where very few El Pasoan’s will ever go. It is a gift to have a state park smack in the middle of our city. You can hike this trail starting at transmountain rd or Mckeligon canyon
Awesome trail very challenging but fun. My only down side is lots of broken glass and bottles on the trail my poor dogs feet got cut up. I hate people. Picked up what I could.
