Such a lovely, lovely place. Vigorous walk up and over the dunes through the forest and done to the lake on the other side. Great lake views from lookout platforms. Lots of great beach walking and activity area. Bathrooms at the parking lot/trail head and at the beach. You won't be disappointed with a walk here.
About three total miles of paths that are a mix of crushed gravel, stairs, and wooden boardwalks. It's only 0.7 miles from the parking to the beach on the most direct route, but there are stairs. Beautiful hikes through pine groves, dunes with scrub grass, and forests.
The Rosy Mound Natural Area is one of the typical Michigan Lakeshore Dune areas. From the spacy parking lot with restrooms, extremely good maintained walkways are leading the guests to the beach. There are ca. 360 steps on the way so it's not accessible for wheelchair and/or walking impaired people.
Our bus load of 48 people really enjoyed our hour and a half here on April 26. Parking is free before Memorial Day in the spring. The trails are well kept and it is such a nice view of the lake. The bathrooms were also well maintained.
