Confirmed from Russ Nature Reserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

“We didn't do much of the trail but the part we did walk down was easy to follow.”

In town for work and wanted to hike, so checked this place out. WOW! It stormed earlier in the day so maybe that was it, but we had the place to ourselves! Saw so many cool mushrooms, beautiful flowers, watched/listen to indigo buntings sing, and can't wait to come back.

This is an okay preserve. Not much to see right now. I took the perimeter loop which has almost NO shade so be aware of that when hiking in the summer. There are plenty of inner trails but I wasn’t able to hike them.

Beautiful place for a nice nature stroll. Not for the seasoned hiker if you're looking for a challenge. But very kid friendly. The play area is a hit with the kids. It's not off a busy road so there isn't much road noise. I like that when taking walks.

★★★★★ — Jessica , Oct 2022

This park is beautiful! The trails aren’t super long but there are several of varying distances to choose from. The playgrounds are super awesome and interesting- a good mix of natural elements and non natural elements. There are restrooms and a beautiful shelter that can be rented for parties.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
