Confirmed from Sand Creek Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Sand Creek Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (955 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 9 mentions

“This is a beautiful natural open space with several large ponds, streams, walking trails and even a few pocket parks.”

🏃 great for running 2 mentions

“It's a great spot for a walk or run.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 4 mentions

“I have driven by multiple times and never realized there is a park here, it is quite and calm.”

If you scope out places using Google maps you might think it's a sludge pool surrounded by dirt. It's better than it looks from above. On the hike I was surprised by all the plants and wildlife(birds, snakes, insects) that you encounter while walking around the trail.

★★★★☆ — Reynaldo , Jul 2022

Wonderful place to take a nice walk with friends and family. Lovely open space, a lake with multiple species of birds. Activity areas for kids to build things.

★★★★☆ — Gregory , May 2024

There's something serene about this park that I enjoyed. It seemed untouched, which was great. It's a great spot for a walk or run. There's a restroom at the car park.

★★★★★ — Vanessa , Jun 2022

Beautiful park to catch the sunrise. Next to a light rail station, but also has a good amount of parking. Lots of paths to walk, a great play area for kids.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
