Confirmed from Sandstone Ranch Visitors Center's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Scenic

Trail-filled and historical site with a playground and a skate park, plus picnic facilities.

What runners say about Sandstone Ranch Visitors Center

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (164 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 6 mentions

“Beautiful home, grounds very pretty.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 3 mentions

“A nice quiet, calm, attractive place to stop for a break.”

Be patient and you will see the beavers in the water when crossing the single bridge in the slow moving water. A few horse flies and mosquitos, so bring the Off spray. A great place to walk and observe the wildlife.

At the east end of the St Vrain greenway, and just off the highway is this fantastic gem of history. You go right back to the 1880's at this preserved piece of history. You can ride your bike there or drive there. Limited parking, but you can park in upper lot by bathroom and walk down 2 different paths.

One of my favorite destinations for road biking on the LOBO bike trail. The LOBO trail has been rebuilt with a new surface and bridges since the flood, superb. A nice quiet, calm, attractive place to stop for a break. Sitting under the shade trees enjoying a snack is an "in the moment" non event.

There are SO many things to do around Sandstone, from playgrounds to picnic areas to hiking trails, there is a lot to offer. If you are at all into history and/or wildlife, check out the visitors' center as they have things for all ages there.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
