Confirmed from Saratoga Quarry Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

My first time hiking in this park.( January/13/2021. I loved it). No parking fee, the parking a little small, but it has street parking. The size of the park is small. One day hike can cover most of the park. There are many isolated picnics areas.

Gorgeous view! Pretty easy hike, not very steep What I love most about it is that it's mostly in the shade. The longest hike I've done so far may be around an 8 miles round trip, however, if you want to keep going, you can. We just ran out of time. I highly recommend it.

Great shaded trail. Dog friendly. Weekends can get busy, especially with Scouts and volunteers present, making parking difficult. There are some parking spots on 9, just outside the entryway. You can hear highway traffic in the picnic area, but once you are further in on the Skyline trail, it’s peaceful.

This is a nice hiking area, especially the "Trail to Skyline" that begins near the top of the park. However, on 3/23/23 the trail was blocked at the 4th bridge (see first photo). There is also a fair amount of poison oak overhanging the trail in several sections up to that point, probably due to the recent storms.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

Plan your run at Saratoga Quarry Park

The practical stuff

  • AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
