Confirmed from Schunnemunk Mountain Trail Head's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Schunnemunk Mountain Trail Head
“Excellent Mid-Atlantic Appalachian trails, with scenic ravines and hollows, and countless panoramic vistas from the top bare spine.”
Great trail be careful if hiking after a big rain storm can get VERY muddy. Huge hill to start, be ready for it. Parking can be a challenge on busy days
There is a new 2 miles loop, blazed in blue. It stars at the trailhead on Taylor Road. Sweet Clover and Jessup trails can be accessed from Otterkill Road. Hikers are not allowed to cross the rails any more.
Great hike, little difficult but we blazed through it so if you take your time it shouldn’t be too bad. Wonderful view at the top. Great mix of terrain - plains, woods, rocks, steep areas. Just keep going, it’s worth it!!
Very good trail. Gorgeous views! Trail is medium difficult not for newbies unless in a group.
