The Southwest Nature Preserve is an excellent place to take the family for a little nature getaway. It is located on Bowman Springs Road in Arlington near I-20 and is open daily from 5am to 10pm.
Wonderful park! I have been here almost every Saturday for the last 4 months. Great place to go hiking for a mile or so. I love all the different plant scents and animal sounds in the early morning. I've seen garden snakes, an armadillo, a lil ' baby skunk, frogs, dragonflies. This place just teems with life.
Free area to hike around. One paved walkway to a small lake with small amphitheater and pier area for fishing. Some trails are not on map but area small enough that you won't be lost for long. Mild hills, rock, sand, and mud trails
Has three catch and release ponds, some hills and native flowers and fana. Nice trails to walk with some incline in places with some good views.
