Confirmed from Shingletown Gap's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Kid-friendly hiking area featuring a variety of easy and moderate trails.
What runners say about Shingletown Gap
“The trails are beautiful and if you arrive at the right time you are led through a tunnel of trees and bushes in full bloom!”
A good short hike. Rocky. Lots of bugs. Where the creeks merge at the start of the hike feels like you are entering an enchanted forest. It's really nice. The overlook is a clearing where powerlines run through. It's okay. Spent a total of 2.
Absolutely beautiful hiking area with lots of different trails. I've hiked here several times now and have done different trail routes each time. Parking is limited, but I've never not been able to find a spot. There are always other hikers, but it's never felt crowded.
Great trail but no map at small parking area. Beautiful rhododendrons at beginning of trail along creek.
I almost don't want to review this, because luckily when I visit it is never crowded. Close hike near State College and absolutely beautiful. SO GREEN. Very dog friendly along the creek. Relaxing sounds, interesting plants. Can get muddy after a rain, but that's not unusual.
