Confirmed from Shore Acres State Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Coastal views, formal gardens & trails at day-use park open till dusk daily; no dogs & parking fee.

It’s been on my bucket list to visit Shore Acres State Park during King Tides.. and I finally got to! It was a beautiful sunny day, but even with that, the waves were super impressive. Could only imagine the wave action when it’s stormy!
This state park is known for its beautiful gardens, scenic hiking trails, and breathtaking ocean views. I love watching the waves crash against the rocks and spotting wildlife along the way. The park is well cared for, with clean restrooms, easy-to-access paths, and plenty of parking.
This state park offers scenery so stunning it’s hard to put into words, along with top-notch infrastructure. One important note—dogs are not allowed here, so if you want to explore the gardens and coastal views, you’ll need to leave them briefly in the car.
This place is amazing when I went the waves were so big and loud. I went walking around the back side of the view area and got splashed so hard. Be careful where u stand or watch from when the king tides are going on.. the walking areas provide great views of the whole entire place.
Trail conditions & character
“With a little imagination I was able to see a face, flying reindeer, mermaid gnome and a hippo face in the rock face looking north from the view point.”
“The amount of work they put into setting up the lights is incredible; truly admirable.”
“The only reason it isn't five stars is that the parking fee felt a little steep, but it was still a great way to spend the afternoon.”
“It is so peaceful and well-maintained, perfect if you just want to clear your head and enjoy nature for a bit.”
“And for the most part, a person in a wheelchair can traverse the grounds, though some of the trails have a good deal of tree roots.”

Plan your run at Shore Acres State Park
The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
