My first hike back to the Olympics starting here to kick off the resurrection of of a life giving, soul nourishing habit in the wonderful Creation of the beautiful Pacific NW! Haven't been to this trail in many years and it did not disappoint....as beautiful as I remember.
Always a lovely time at this unique trail. The start of the trail is uphill through an old growth forest. Once down the other side it gives way to old growth remnants mixed with maple trees where there was previously a large landslide. Was snowy and muddy on my most recent visit and a few trees down about 3 miles in.
This place is beautiful. It's a bit tricky to get down to the water but we manage to find a secret trail off the actual trail that leads down to this spot. Loved how super clear the water is. Great for kids. I suggest those little ones who can't swim to bring a life jacket. It gets deep in this part.
One rather large blow down shortly into first descent early in the trail, but it was fairly easy to climb and kids can crawl under. We love this trail for it's dynamic changing environment and relative seclusion.
