Confirmed from Subat Forest Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Nature preserve, with a loop trail through the woods and along the prairie, as well as a lookout point.
What runners say about Subat Forest Preserve
“It's very quiet and calm.”
It's pretty simple, but I do really like the large looping trail through the middle of the field. It's very quiet and calm.
Nice small patch of woods along the creek and prairie preserve for an easy loop walk, also an outdoor bathroom open seasonally, nice pavilion and an overlook deck down a short path to the right.
Trail to the left of shelter with a lookout sitting area to right. Nice loop through prairie.
We visited today, which is still early spring; and although only the grass was green so far, the amount of bird calls were outdone only by the din of frogs croaking in the wetland. We went to take pictures, but also took video to save the nature sounds.
