We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Sultan River Canyon Trail yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

This is a beautiful place you can actually drive to to see amazing views. Absolutely no hiking is required to be able to capture breathtaking photos here. The road may be rough at times, but is definitely manageable. If you enjoy going for drives and admiring nature, you'll love this road trip to Sultan River Canyon!

Not a bad hike down, but as of March 2022 there's a few trees fallen across the trail that will require a bit of crawling or climbing across. Trail kinda just ends in a spot on the river that's not very scenic. Still a good workout, went on a Saturday morning and had the trail to myself.

★★★★☆ — Alexander , Mar 2022

The first part of the trail is very clean and open space. Then start becoming in a narrow way but still pretty. The river at the end is beautiful and the water cold. If you want a low impact trail, this is for you.

★★★★★ — Sahian , Jun 2024

Short hike through a new growth forest. First half is on a wide gravel road, second half is a steep decline that ends with a space-limited river access. The trail is wide and in a great condition, considering the slope. Lots of berry bushes and water streams (in the spring).

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
