Confirmed from Sunny Square Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Park featuring a playground, ball field, picnic areas, and a walking trail.
What runners say about Sunny Square Park
“Playground equipment is well maintained, and during spring summer and fall there is a portable toilet.”
“It is relatively shaded throughout the day, with beautiful mature trees.”
“Clean, quiet, lots of climbing and smooth paved walking trails good for strollers”
This park has a cute playground, a community room that appears well maintained and is rentable. There is an ice rink in the winter as well. The walking path connects to the Trail that eventually turns into Long Lake Regional Park (connecting path opens 8/1/16 according to signage).
Used to be called kiddie park been going down there 50 years. Grew up right down the road from their softball field warming house hockey rink and skating rink Great place to walk your dog and there's a bike path by the railroad tracks right behind the ball field Can go down to Long Lake park from that path
I have ridden to Sunny Square park a few times. It's not too far West of MN 95. I think there might be a bicycle/walking path to this park also. A month ago we were motorcycling and went passed it. A quiet park
Nice and clean park with updated features. Lots of flowering trees and shade. Paths are in great shape.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms, water — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
