Confirmed from Sunset Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Neighborhood park featuring a basketball hoop, a picnic pavilion, a playground & a walking loop.
What runners say about Sunset Park
“Peaceful and beautiful place to take a walk, photos and the Kid's.”
What this park lacks in playground it makes up for in beautiful open space. A great little stream runs thru it, with multiple tiny waterfalls. Adventurous little trails can take you into the long grass to explore more.
honestly, this is a pretty chill park to go hang out in. most of the negative reviews seem to be pertaining to the playground area, but I don't play on playgrounds and I don't have kids so I couldn't possibly care less about that.
Nice quiet location. The only reason I visit this park is to jump my RC monster truck off the dirt jumps. But just observing other parts of the park, it looks like a great park for dog walking, relaxing, picnics. Overall it's a good looking park.
Despite being exhausted from my hike, this park is one of my favorites for going to relax and play on the playground with my stuffed hedgehog. There's epic views, plenty of insects, and I love the way the stream looks early in the morning.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
