Confirmed from Union Square Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Union Square Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (236 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 3 mentions

“Nice park, easy to walk, clean, safe and there's usually a few dogs to see.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 5 mentions

“Beautiful park which makes you feel like you are in nature but a minute away from the city.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 7 mentions

“It's close to shopping and restaurants but has a very peaceful and secluded feel in most areas.”

This park is well maintained and has a lot of options. There is a nice paved circular trail around the two small bodies of water for your walks and runs. I believe you can fish here with a proper license but it may be catch and release. The park is small but very fun and my toddler burns a lot of energy here.

Beautiful public space for walking, jogging, and letting the kids run wild. I happened to be there for the first snow storm of the season and it's a wonderland in the snow. I particularly enjoyed the cougar sculpture near the playground. So grab the dog and his leash.

Nice place. Its small nothing huge but pretty. We took a walk on November 3rd with our dogs. Make sure your dog is on a leash. there is thin ice on the lake, and ducks and squirrels that they love to chaise. Even if your dog is well behaved be careful but the view was nice and they liked the walk.

I was rather happy about the relative absence of coyotes in the park. The park is near some office park and in view of Mc mansions. A guy walking his dog off leash with a choke collar in one hand, as a visual reminder to behave. 2 lakes! I think I just saw a coyote!!!!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
