Confirmed from Swatara Creek Water Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Dog-friendly outdoor space with multi-use trails, plus kayaking and fishing.
What runners say about Swatara Creek Water Trail
“Very nice serene and peaceful place to walk or run.”
Very nice serene and peaceful place to walk or run. Nice nature trail. You can walk your dog, take a jog, or take a nice little romantic walk with that special somebody. Has a nice pond and bridge to walk over it on. Highly recommend if you need to just get out and take a breather.
If you follow the Middletown-Hummelstown Railroad line (not in use) north along the Swatara, you will see evidence of quarrying from years passed and a small cave. Lots of wildlife - deer, birds, egret, etc. Everytime I walk here I see critters. Please be respectful.
Great multi-use park! Bike trails both flat ‘rail trail’ and more difficult single tracks. Fishing, kayaking, hiking too. Also look out for the abandoned canal locks throughout the park.
No hiking. Just ramp to put your boat in. The property around the ramp has No Trespassing signs and the railroad tracks look like they are still in use.
