Confirmed from Hummel Nature Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 7 mentions

“This is a short but very scenic trail, perfect for a quick walk when you want to enjoy some fresh air without committing to a long hike.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 4 mentions

“The path is easy to follow, surrounded by peaceful views of the water and plenty of spots to pause and take it all in.”

A very nice little walking trail. There is no camping here, but it is a good spot to take canoes, and kayaks out. The trail forms a loop, so you can't get lost.

Super pretty flowers lining the trail. Good creek for fishing or letting ur dog/kids play. There's also a field with a pavillion and a pond, which I believe has a small boat launch, big enough for a kayak, maybe. The railroad nearby can be really loud, though. Very nice walking trail.

★★★★★ — Caelan , Apr 2025

Nice walk/hike on well-maintained path through meadow and along riparian path. Total distance just over 1/2 mile, slight incline in places. No restroom facilities, porta-potty on site though. Baseball field used by little guys during the season. Dogs permitted on leashes, pavillion.

Beautiful trail to walk. No bathroom. A little picnic area too. A great place to walk your dog.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceCrushed gravel — the rail-trail classic: softer than asphalt, still smooth enough for tempo work
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
