We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Talcott Hiking Trail yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Talcott Hiking Trail

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (38 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 3 mentions

“It's beautiful and totally worth it.”

There are 2 trails you can take, one starts mid way up the road, the other starts at the very top towards thr helicopter landing pad. I recommend the very top one for anyone looking for a little bit if an extra challenge. However the hike isn't very hard at all, would rate it a novice trail.

The hike up to Heublein Tower is terrific. It is a bit steep at the beginning but nothing too strenuous - I've seen parents with strollers and elderly folks make it. The view from the top- where Heublein Tower is located- is terrific. I've done the hike summer, fall, winter, spring, and it is great year round.

The views here are so awesome! The tower at the top makes for miles of a view at that (if it's open). There's definitely some steepness to the trail and it's fairly difficult to make the trip without breaking, but there are plenty of areas to rest. It certainly makes for a rewarding and spectacular hike!

It's beautiful and totally worth it. For people interested in skiing it can be a fun little trip. Hiking was great. Make sure to wear good boots especially in snow, since it's also quite steep at places.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
