Confirmed from Tehachapi Mountain Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
State park offering campsites, hiking and views along maintained roads and trails.
What runners say about Tehachapi Mountain Park
“I’ve never spent the night but the trail to the top is amazing and a beautiful scenery all around.”
Gorgeous snowy day. The road up is fairly narrow and winding; more than a couple of people had minor accidents, so be careful and cautious as you drive up. The snowy winter time is just as nice as the cool summer hikes. All seasons here are wonderful.
Good hike on Tehatchapi Mountain Trail with mixed shade and sun, occasional panoramic views, lots of incline, some areas not well marked or maintained, private property sign near the peak that prevents reaching the peak (see Google Maps screenshot). No real parking at trail head, just side of road parking.
This area is beautiful, but it's tricky to find the trail (fire road) up to the top. The signage isn't clear and it is easy to get lost. If you haven't been before, go with someone who knows the way. The last .8 miles to the very top is extremely steep and slippery and it is easy to loose the trail.
We spent two nights (18 dollars a night) here at the camping grounds, it was nice and cool with a fire pit and a bench. Only downside was having to walk a bit to get some water. There are signs around the campground warning to not drink the water and to bring your own bottled water so keep that in mind.
