Confirmed from Terra Oak Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

“Well kept and fairly clean except for the weekends.”

🌳 shaded & cool 4 mentions

“Parts of this trail are nicely shaded and a little way into it, you can enjoy some respite from the traffic noise.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 4 mentions

“Awesome trail that is surprisingly quiet for the area.”

I liked the shady paved path, the trees and shrubs full of birds including cardinals. A few dog walkers, runners and walkers were out but it’s far from crowded. It was peaceful, pretty and mostly flat.

This trail is right behind my house. I’m so blessed to live close to a beautiful trail you can bike, walk, run, walk on. It’s bike friendly, dog friendly, kid friendly. 🌻🚴‍♀️🐾👣🌿

Bring a friend and some water. It's a good walk in the early am. You'll have many options once you hit the trailhead.

★★★★☆ — R , Jun 2021

New with lots of wildflowers and curvy paths that rise and fall in elevation. Miles marked at .25 intervals.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🅿️ Trailhead parking 5 mentions

“I ran out a mile from the parking lot and back (distance is marked at intervals along the way) and thank the taxpayers and the city planners for the pleasure.”

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
  • At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
