Confirmed from Terrace Oaks West Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 5 mentions

“The oak savannah is beautiful and the heavily wooded section is very well maintained.”

Great park in the heart of Burnsville. I didn't realize how extensive the trails were until I went for an evening hike. The oak savannah is beautiful and the heavily wooded section is very well maintained. Rolling hills, wide turf and dirt trails and wildlife abound!

★★★★★ — Kim , May 2022

What a great trail hidden within the neighborhood. Hills for a small challenge, benches for short breaks, and plenty of parking.

★★★★★ — C , May 2024

Beautiful varied trails, mountain bike trails, multiple lengths of hiking trails. Savanna, woods, ponds. Somewhat loose gravel on the hills.

★★★★★ — Chris , Oct 2021

Nice park with great trails for summer and winter. Lots of parking, a playground, some hiking trails are 3.5 long and offers good trails for cross country skiing

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
