Confirmed from The Riverfront Greenway's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about The Riverfront Greenway

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (93 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 8 mentions

“Biked here from south philly, only a short ride away and a scenic boardwalk for walking, riding, anything else you might do on a boardwalk.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 5 mentions

“It was a vert nice place, peaceful, people were friendly great view of New Jersey”

Quiet path with great views. Somewhat melancholy to see the shell of what once was a bustling naval yard, as well as moth-balled ships, including CV67 the JFK aircraft carrier. The area is turning – retail, offices and some restaurants. Area is large enough that biking is probably preferred to cover the grounds.

It was a pleasant walk. Quiet, that at times we could hear the river lapping against the breaks. The airport is a short distance away. Therefore planes were landing about every 10 mins.

★★★★★ — Gramps , Sep 2021

The Riverfront Greenway in Philadelphia is a transformative project that revitalizes the city’s waterfront with a continuous 11-mile stretch of parks and trails. It extends from Port Richmond to Torresdale, offering residents and visitors a scenic and recreational space.

Great place to walk on the paved paths with some great views of the river. Didn't see a single person on a Friday afternoon on the trail. Trail is open dawn/dusk. Trail doesn't go through and abruptly stops, which is the only negative. However, you can bike, walk, or run the trail to the Greenway leading to FDR Park.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
