Confirmed from Thondum Wihom Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

🌾 quiet & peaceful 3 mentions

“Less transited than the neighboring Mormon trail and slightly easier, so it is ideal for when you want a bit of peace and quiet as well as s decent workout and great views”

Beautiful trail, extremely easy to miss from the road while driving; there isn't a parking lot, just a little patch of bare ground to park in. It begins with a short stretch of trail between chain link fence and some backyards before you get to the truly scenic part. Steep in parts with difficult terrain, extra rocky.

I wish there were better parking, but this is a great South Mountain trail. It can be very busy with mountain bikes at some times, though.

★★★★☆ — M , Dec 2021

Really nice trail. It is a moderate difficulty hike, but its not too hard. Youll get in a great workout and some scenic views.

★★★★★ — Tara , Dec 2018

Love this trail, as the visitor traffic is light, and the views of downtown Phoenix framed through the canyons of South Mountain are glorious. We got in a leisurely two mile loop in two hours on the not very rough trail. We saw a group with a small dog, and the dog seemed to be handling the trail just fine.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
