Confirmed from Tilghman Lake Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Tilghman Lake Park
“Nice well-maintained trails.”
“To the beautiful melanated brother we walked pass on the trail thank you for the eye candy!”
“A serene park with a few picnic tables and some newly added exercise stops along the trail so you can do setups, etc.”
I almost don't want to review this place as I want to keep it all to myself. 😊 I really just stumbled across it. Living in Charles County my whole life, I had no idea it was here. There's a loop around the lake to hike which connects to the adjacent park. Very nice picnic Pavillion and restroom facilities.
Tilghman Lake is a tranquil lake and surrounding trail. As the weather is getting warmer, when we were walking the trail, we saw different wildlife: birds, ducks, and even a few turtles hanging out on a log.
Little hidden gem today. If you're looking for a park with less population but just as much beauty, check out Tilghman. •Paved path around the water •Free parking on a gravel lot. •Accessible bathrooms •Covered picnic area. •Boat dock. •outdoor ampitheater with benches, small wooden stage and firepit.
One of my favorite lesser known parks in Charles county. Great one mile loop for a casual walk through woods and around the lake. It also connects to laurel springs if you want to make it a much longer hike around all of the Ball Fields’s.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
