Confirmed from Trailhead for Hemlock Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 6 mentions

“Can get muddy but the creeks and pine trees are beautiful.”

Great trail! Nice views of the lake at the beginning & Easy parking. Well maintained & shaded.

Ample parking is available at the old boat launch on Rotherham Dr. The hike is fairly strenuous. It's a steady climb. I believe the elevation changes by 300 feet. There's an other lot off of Catoosa near the terminus of Rotherham at the top of the hill if you want to do downhill first.

★★★★★ — Quilt , May 2017

The walking and hiking trails maintained by the local residents are the most awesome set of trails. Impressive natural trails with just the right amount of bridges stone laid steps and elevation changes.

I had done the Rotherham trail previously so I wanted to check out the other side so I took the Hemlock. It follows Lick creek for a half mile or so. It's very lush and green. It climbs gradually to the top of the ridge.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

“The Hemlock Trail can be hiked out and back, or you can make a loop approximately 3 miles long, since it connects to all of the routes near Good Samaritans.”
