Confirmed from Trailhead Mountains to Sea Goshen River Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Trailhead Mountains to Sea Goshen River Trail

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (22 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 6 mentions

“This trail is beautiful with some difficult obstacles, including barbed wire fences, fallen trees, and many areas with large rocks and boulders covering the trail.”

Wonderful hike the first part you have to scale a couple of gates then you start to climb in elevation. This section is absolutely beautiful there are some rocks and trees to climb over but you hike along the river. About .3 in you come to waterfalls and a bridge and then the elevation really starts the climb.

★★★★★ — Andrea , Jul 2022

Beautiful trail. Maintained nicely, crosses a few streams, Rocky in some parts, and lots of flower blooms happening right now. Not very many spots along the road so make sure to get here early to secure your spot. You also have to cross over two ladders with four rungs about 4.

★★★★★ — Madison , Jun 2023

Beautiful trial that follows a creek. The trail is rocky in some spots and climbs gently from the trailhead. Only downside of this trial is that it also runs parallel to the Blue Ridge Parkway so there's some traffic noise.

★★★★★ — Steve , May 2024

Wow, what a nice hike along this river. Parking is literally on the side of the road but the trail is very well marked and maintained. If your not in decent shape it could wear you out quickly.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
