Confirmed from Tunica Hills WMA's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Tunica Hills WMA

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (175 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 7 mentions

“Trail A (longer) and C (~3 miles) take you for a hike around beautiful Louisiana habitat and part of the hike includes a creek bed which is a lot of fun”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 4 mentions

“The early morning start provided for cooler temps under the trees and definitely quiet.”

Tunica Hills is such a unique change of scenery in Louisiana. Elevation you say? Waterfalls even? (Note the waterfalls are in the Clark Creek area in MS- but close enough to count) I enjoyed walking the creek trail and being able to see the wash outs that tell the story of how Louisiana was formed.

Great place to get away. The area is so different from most of south Louisiana. There are hills. Big hills, and deep ravines. The trail at the larger parking area does a 4.5 mile loop. You descend into a ravine. Then follow a mostly dry sandy creek bed for about 1.5 miles. Then climb back out again

Wonderful area to go hike or walk. The Trails that we visited were not for beginners as we did about 1,000 feet of climbing through out. The early morning start provided for cooler temps under the trees and definitely quiet. Bring plenty of water with you and snacks to keep you replenished.

Don't forget to get a WMA pass or equivalent license before visiting; these can be purchased online. There are no waterfalls. If you are looking for waterfalls, go to nearby Clark Creek instead. Many people refer to Clark Creek as Tunica Hills, but they are different locations in different states.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
