Confirmed from Upper Creek Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Upper Creek Trailhead

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (39 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

The trail we took was a loop, and there were ups and downs. Some of the downhills could be steep if you wear sneakers. The view of the bay and the bridge was available most of the time along the trail. Street parking was really easy, and the traffic was not too heavy on the trail.

★★★★★ — Kuei-Da , Aug 2021

Very good hike with lots of Sunshade. We did the Rambler, Ohlone, Chapparal, Berry, Lake, John Brooks and Lower Finch Loop which is about 7miles and takes about 2.5 to 3 hrs. Take good amount of water with you since there is no place to refill.

★★★★★ — Vasisht , Mar 2020

Roadside parking at the top lower/upper creek trails. Cars drive fast/carlessly on this road so watch when loading and unloading bike. Nice starting point for short down to steep switchbacks or down creek trails to main parking lot.

★★★★☆ — Corry , May 2018

It is a nice shaded trail. Lot of bikes though. Makes it difficult to enjoy the trail. Saw some cool animals (gecko, tiny snake, woodpecker).

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
