We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Upper Dark Trail yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Upper Dark Trail
“An easy hike though a well shaded forest.”
An easy hike though a well shaded forest. There are many different trails that branch of the main trail the further you get. I have been up the Right Hand Fork trail once and as you ascend that trail you eventually end up in a pristine aspen forest! Many rattlesnakes reported around here so always watch where you step.
There's nothing like going hiking and getting out there in the wild and experiencing serenity through the wilderness. A great place to meditate.
Quick day hike, and 6000% worth it. Take a few breaks and listen to the world around ya. Maybe pet a cow. Saw some folks on horseback and a mountain biker.
