Confirmed from UWF Trails' own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Boardwalk trail system through swamps and woods, frequented by alligators and turtles.
What runners say about UWF Trails
“The most beautiful trail over the swampy area at uwf and we got to see this enormous alligator right off the boardwalk.”
“The trails are set back so it feels secluded and peaceful and there are usually not too many people here.”
The waterways and trails are pretty awesome! The gator is fun to see too (see pics)!
I absolutely LOVE hiking here! There are lots of different trails, and it's so beautiful!!! :) Safe by myself as well! Update- there is, in fact,a Large Alligator living here! So cool! :)
These trails are awesome! Very well kept up, maps everywhere so you don't get lost. I will return weekly.
The boardwalk needs maintenance, but not as badly as some other places. It's also a bit on the narrow side compared to some other trails with boardwalk. The areas of trail that go beyond the boardwalk are pretty extensive, so they're nice in that respect if you're into hiking or trail running.

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- SurfaceBoardwalk — flat and scenic, and slick when wet, so watch your footing
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
